Engineering

The components defined by the customer are optimized in our engineering department, such as in the geometry, the materials, the surface treatment. Laboratory tests for simulating critical processes are also offered on customer request. We develop new processes to increase the performance of the components, carry out material tests and analyses and test the bending and torsional fatigue strength on our own test benches. After customer approval, the ready-to-install component is defined as a 3D model with all parameters. This database is used for die, device and tool design, production planning, the creation of status drawings for production and the provision of data for the CAM system.

Forge

In principle, we forge raw parts for components with a length of 1.2 m or more in-house. In this way, we can ensure quality at all times. All dies and tools aare designed and manufactured in-house. Depending on the length, the raw parts are forged in a die or formed in stroke-by-stroke devices with 3,500 t presses.

Mechanical processing

With modern CNC lathes and milling machines, various work steps and technologies are carried out in one setting. In this way, we reduce throughput times, set-up and production costs. With CNC pendulum stroke grinding machines, we can grind components up to 8 m in length fully automatically.

Surface treatment

One of our core competencies is the hardening of components with hardening machines developed in-house. Surface treatments such as nitriding, impact hardening or induction hardening increase fatigue strength and allow higher component loads.

Component strength increase

Maschinenfabrik ALFING Kessler GmbH is able to increase the residual compressive stresses in the critical areas by means of patented forming or strain hardening processes such as stroke peening or deep rolling, which can significantly improve the service life of the components.

Finishing and assembly

All accessories that are necessary for the ready-to-install provision are assembled by us and dynamically balanced in the overall system.
In the finishing process, each individual component is brought to perfection. Where necessary, specialised employees with many years of practical experience carry out manual work steps. In the subsequent final inspection, the parts are completely checked. They are then cleaned in fully automatic car washes, checked visually and finally preserved in air-conditioned clean rooms before they are made available for delivery. We can guarantee
constant quality with regular residual dirt analyses.
